Deadlines

Application Deadline for Fall 2025/AY 25-26:

  • Priority deadline: 11:59am, February 20, 2025 (China Time). Students apply by this date will be able to register for DKU classes alongside DKU students according to class seniority if accepted and committed to the program.
  • Extended deadline: 11:59am, April 14, 2025 (China Time). Students apply by this date will be able to register for DKU classes shortly after DKU students; applications received by this deadline will still have ample time to apply for their Chinese student visa.

Priority deadline for Spring 2026: 11:59AM, September 8, 2025 (China Time)

Extended deadline for Spring 2026: 11:59AM, October 13, 2025 (China Time)

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Register as a full-time undergraduate student of the Home Institution; AND
  • Must complete two semesters of undergraduate study prior to enrollment at the Host Institution, which means the visiting student must be a sophomore student while studying at DKU; AND
  • Be able to legally enter or stay in China for the purposes of taking classes; AND
  • Show good standing in the home institution with:
    • Minimum Grade Points Average (GPA) of 2.7/4.0; OR
    • Ranking in the top one-third of the class; OR
    • A minimum “B” average grade of 70% average marks; AND
  • Be able to study at DKU in-person for the whole semester; AND
  • Be nominated by your home institution (for exchange partner) OR signed the “Home Institution Approval Form

English Requirement

Students must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • TOEFL 90 (iBT) (min. 21 in any skill); OR
  • IELTS 6.5 or above (min. 6.0 in all sections)
  • Other English proficiency exams are accepted, but will be evaluated case by case

The English Language Requirements will be exempted if one of the following is true:

The Home Institution is located in one of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Canada
  • USA
  • UK

The language of instruction is English at Home Institution

Meeting the commitment requirements to study at DKU
All accepted Duke students must meet the commitment requirement before the commitment deadline posted in your acceptance notification email. Students may have different commitment deadline depending on your application submission group.

Prepare your visa and travel plans
DKU will host visa and pre-departure planning orientations, and walk you through every step needed to prepare for your journey!

Prepare your DKU course registration
Work with your advisor at home university to understand and prepare your course enrollment plan. You will also be assigned an academic advisor at DKU, who will carefully plan courses with you as you prepare for departure.
