Application & Commitment Steps
The application to study at Duke for the 2027-2028 academic year is now open. This portal provides an overview of the application and enrollment process. Please ensure you read the guide thoroughly and apply according to the instructions (application link included).
Confirm Your Eligibility
The application for Duke AY27-28 opens to students with an expected graduation term of Fall 2028, Spring 2029 and Fall 2029. Study away policies and other conditions apply (per application guide).
Apply (due 11:59AM September 24, 2026, China Time)
Carefully read the application announcement and submit your application. Late/Incomplete applicants are not considered.
Receive DKU Pre-Approval/Rejection Notice
Students will be assigned to Fall or Spring Duke Semester.
Complete DKU Requirements to confirm your Duke Study Away Junior Term
Sign the DKU Participation Agreement to confirm with DKU your Duke Study Away Junior Term.
Receive Duke Acceptance Notice
Students are expected to receive Duke Acceptance Notice for their confirmed Duke Study Away Junior Term.
Complete Duke Commitment Requirements
1) Sign the Duke Participation Agreement
2) Pay $1,000 USD non-refundable deposit, which will be applied towards Duke charges.
US J-1 Visa Application
Students who are not US citizens and do not hold US Permanent Resident Card, need to take heed of emails from DODR and follow J-1 visa guide to take further actions.
Monitor Announcements on Visa Processing, Course Registration, Eligibility Standing Check and etc.
Additional information will continue to be required; all applicants are required to check emails frequently and respond to requests for information. DKU Pre-approved students who are late in submitting required forms will be dropped from the program.
All committed students must remain eligible in studying away at Duke for their committed Duke Junior Term. Ineligible students will be withdrawn from the program directly.
