It's up to you, with FLEX.

It's up to you, with FLEX.

What is DKU GO-FLEX?

Although students are first encouraged to consider programs amongst the preapproved DKU GO options, DKU GO-FLEX allows students to petition DKU for approval to apply and enroll as a visiting student in an accredited university or program provider.

This option introduces additional flexibility for those students who are unable to find a DKU GO option that fits their needs or travel/visa restrictions. Programs are not preapproved, rather, students may self-identify a foreign program or host institution that is accessible and appealing to them. The DKU Office of Global Education will consider for approval for GO-FLEX petitions on an individual basis.

To apply for DKU GO-FLEX, you need to petition a program.

The petition walks you through it, but here are some tips.

Conduct comprehensive research for your program of interest:

Search Criteria:

  • If searching a university website, look for “non-degree” or “visiting student” program pages. You may need to email!
  • If you are looking at study away programs, check that the program is is accredited by an accredited four-year institution (often called an institution of record, or IOR).
  • If you are looking at enrolling as a visiting student in another institution, ensure the institution is an accredited four-year college or university
  • Verify that the institution will issue a transcript of all courses and credits completed
  • Make sure your intended program meets DKU’s standards for academics (including proposed coursework that is eligible for credit transfer from an accredited institution or program)
  • Make sure you are informed and understand the academic, health and safety, housing arrangements, student support services, student immigration viability, and financial cost.

Screening courses in preparation for Host-DKU credit transfer:

Make sure you have identified at least six potential courses (with course codes and descriptions) that may be eligible for credit transfer under the Host-DKU Credit Transfer Process.

  • Qualifying courses must be pre-approved for credit transfer
  • You must be able to enroll in a full-load of viable courses
  • Ensure that an accredited transcript is available (see also the Host-DKU Course Credit Transfer).
  • Students should expect that many or most courses may be eligible for transfer to DKU only as general elective credits, although some courses may be suitable to fulfill major requirements.
